Help me! (JavaScript)

Regular expression.

  <body>
    <pre style="color:blue">
      target
    </pre>
    <script type="text/javascript">
      var m = document.body.innerHTML.match(/<pre[\w\s:;="]*>((.|\n)*)<\/pre>/g);
      alert(m);
    </script>
  </body>
</html>

Firefox and Safari are OK.
But IE6 and IE7 are NG.
Why?
